Update I spiced into the apps ground (black with yellow) and grounded apps and ecm to the neg on the battery. Then reset the apps nothing changed. Also bought two new batteries the others where the orginals reset apps again. Thought I had the problem taken care of the shifting was smooth for the most part. But every now and then it will unlock/lock going into 3rd and into OD. The problem is not as bad as it was before it is not as consistant but still happens maybe 30 percent of the time. Like I said I installed a filter,( not the DTT or BD filter ) added ground from PCM to neg on battery, seperated the apps wires from wire loom to the ecm, cleaned the grounds, replaced batteries, and grounded the apps. Something is going on with this truck. This is frustrating all this time I have put into this and haven't got it taken care of.

I too am in search of the solution to the ground problem...
... but...
As for the ideas regarding grounding the ECM to the battery, I would strongly suggest that you NEVER GROUND THE ECM or other electronic engine component directly to the battery. This is a very good way to fry your ECM *if* you happen to have a bad battery ground cable or connection. Electricity wall always take the path of least resistance. The ECM is grounded to the engine block. If you ground the ECM to the battery too and by chance you also have a bad ground cable or connection from that battery, then the path of least resistance for the ground path may be directly to the ECM via the wire you provided. How many amps do the heater grids draw? How many amps does the starter draw? How many amps will the ECM pass from the battery to engine ground before it is smoked???
