Torque Converter Lockup light

Does any one know if there is a wire you can tap a light into that will go on when the TC has locked? Is this possible??

Put an LED with a series resistor (5K ohms ?). Put the negative side to ground. Wire the positive side into the Lock up Connector on the left side of the transmission using T tap or Scotch clip. I think it is the wire with the stripe. You should be able to get all the parts and a recommendation for the resistor size from any Radio Shack.



The light will be on when NOT in lock up and off otherwise. I put one on my last truck when troubleshooting the interaction between GV overdrive and BD Pressure Lock. I put the LED in a panel mount holder and made it part of the bezel for the boost guage I installed.

You should realize that the light indicates that the OD solenoid is activated. However, the TCC may NOT be locked unless that hydraulic conditions are correct. This can happen if you attempt to lock the TCC manually or with an aftermarket device when you are in a low pressure situation like coasting down a hill. The light will indicate that the TCC is locked but it won't lock in this case unles you excellerate to increase the pressure.
