Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Torque Converter Lockup Solenoid

I thing the tc lockup solenoid in my sons 1999 3500 has gone out. The truck dies when he puts it in drive unless he has foot on accelerator and holds the brake hard. Idle is fine. Does anyone know where to buy one short of a dealer? He can't afford a new transmission right now as he is a new father and just started a new job. Any help or info is greatly appreciated.
