I need some help - I had a BD t/c put in when my truck was fairly new, Feb 99. What I need is the percent of lock-up in relation to the t//c available now. I am about to replace it as well as everything else and would like to get something "a little tighter. "

Not much , mind you, but a little

:D

Thanks for any inf

George

Contact Bill K and he can tell you exactly what you need. I think he recommends 89% for light to moderate towing and 91% for heavy towing. I tow an 18K trailer and have a 91% that I could not be happier with.

What does the % mean?

I have an Auto on order with my new truck and was wondering what the 89% and 91% mean. I know what stall speed is, but not the %... . could you please enlighten me!

weatherbyman,

The way I understand it is that stall speed is the same as TC percentage. It's just a new marketing scheme.

glasmiths,

The only way your going to get the real answer to that one would be to do what Stakeman said, call BD.

Ron

Weatherbyman, the effieciency rating is more accurately the amount of power transferred by the TC in fluid coupling opposed to lockup. It is kinda arbitrary as different TC manufacturers have different results when they test similar convertors.

George, the technology available from BD now is leaps and bounds different from what they offered you in 99. I would suggest that you call ALL of the different transmission companies to see who fits what you want and need. There is not just one company, or only solution.

Call BD for Info?

I know people have had good customer service and all that from BD. However, my service sucks. That is the first place, and ofcourse the most obvious, place I went. They gave me a long string of BS that read like a sales pitch and that was it. The same thing happened over the BD Autoloc, that has never worked in the three years it has been installed.

First, they blamed it on the PCM in the transmission, then inplied that I might be wrong, or mistaken:mad: . Whom ever this Brian is at BD they can log him down for losing a complete transmission and some other. Although the BD t/c has worked fine, I'll go down the road to Bill K in about a month::mad: :D :D

Thank all of you for your replys. I will call Bill K. but not over someone else's problem. I understand that their controller is pretty good, so may have one installed with the transmission and other later.

Thanks,

George

91 % T/C

RAMBOY:

You have a 91% t/c. Is it rough when you put it into gear? Or is it just that there is less slippage as you apply the power? I don't want something that jumps real bad when you put it into gear.

The BD that is in it now holds pretty good. When I tow the combined weight is around 26,000. Doesn't heat up , just goes.

Where did you have yours installed?

Thanks

George

I would recommend calling BD but If you do call Bill he should know what percent it is because Bill was working for BD, and the designer of their TC's at the time you had BD parts installed.

Ron

Ron,

I have watched you discuss products and eventhough i didnt argee with your opinions i didnt interfere.

Now i dont know who told you that lie, but DONT EVER USE MY NAME LIKE THAT AGAIN. I had absolutely nothing to do with the design of that or any converter of BD's. While i did try get them to make changes they would never do so because of the cost factor involved.

Again i dont know where you got that information and I really dont care. DO N0T USE MY NAME in conjunction with that or any company .

The reason I quit that company in the first place was because of the converters and torqueloc. The day they put a Suncoast TC in Pier's truck and sent it to a show flying their own colors that was the day i handed in my notice.

You dont believe me , ask Piers.

Ron i suggest you get your facts straight before you shoot your mouth off.

Moderrators : You delte this post you may as well kick me off this website for good . THis is not emotions speaking here. These are facts. If by tying my hands you intend for me not to defend myself you may as well kick me off now.

PS, if you guys have got something to say to me, i prefer if you do it in public, so everthing stays above board and not subject to personal intrepretation or censorship.

Did I miss something or did some post get deleted? I don't read anything about you lying Bill. What happened?

I see now. I misread the post. I thought Bill said he was being accused of lying, but what he really said was that the statement made was a lie. My mistake. I guess I'll have to read a little closer next time. :)

Bill,

Did I miss something, I do post on the public forms so everyone can read and interpret what they want.

Bill,

Fact:: You did work for BD.

Bill,

Did you or did you not do any TC building for BD?

Bill,

Did BD not use your design when you went to work for them?

Bill,

Why are you incinuating that you can not post or respond on the boards?

I have questions just like anyone on these boards and if you do not like me asking them, that is your problem, I do recall you wanting answers from other product makers or are you exempt from ridicual for some reason?

an enquisative mind wants to know.

If I need to appologize for something that is not true, then I will do so and do whatever I can to make it right.

P. S. You are the one that told me you use to work for BD on a thread a long time ago. I think you told me that in the year 2000.

Ok, Bill, if you want this public, it's fine.

Your hands are not "tied". You are not banned from posting on transmission topics. You never have been. Doing so would be foolish on our part, since that's your major contribution to this board.

There is a simple and clear set of rules which govern the rules of this board. The parts in question are quoted below.

5. Vendor Participation: Vendor input and commentary is welcomed in our Discussion Forums, however, direct solicitation is not. Vendors have proven to provide insightful conversation and commentary. Demonstrate professionalism in all post to the TDR Discussion Forums. The following will be strictly enforced:

5. 1. The TDR Discussion Forums are not an appropriate forum for emotionally charged discussion between manufacturers, distributors, dealers, shops and/or users. These forums are intended to be technical resources for members interested in learning more about the proper care and maintenance of their trucks. All Vendors will refrain from making direct, emotionally charged, posts to and/or about competitors. All Vendor posts must be civil and technically oriented. If Vendors wish to compare products with competitors, use generic references (i. e. “oiled element air filter” as opposed to Amsoil, AFE and K&N).

This means you may not imply or directly state that another vendor is deliberately lying to the public or has thier business based on unethical conduct. It means you may not, for instance, say that because Company X doesn't reveal every detail of thier products in a public forum, including pictures and engineering data it means they are trying to hide bad business practice or are deliberately selling harmful, damaging, or defective products.

It also means, for instance you cannot refer personally to other vendors in a derogatory manner, nor make personal insults directed toward other businesspeople.

I'm quite sure you and I can read the quote and the comments I posted below it and agree that there is no conflict between them.

Since you obviously are discussing something I did just a few days ago, let's revisit it slightly.

This is my request to you, quoted precisely:

I'm moving your post out of view for the moment, and asking someone else who's a little less personally interested in the topic to review it all. Please refrain from commenting on the subject again in a personal manner.

I do not know the full text of communication between you and anyone else - including other moderators or the management - on this subject, but as far as moderators of THIS particular forum go, we are in agreement that nobody, including you, be restrained from any germane topic, and that your input here has been technically excellent and a good asset to our online community.

If for some reason, what has written to you was not clear, or if what was said was not what we thought was said, I apologize. Likewise if I have been insufficient in conveying my thoughts to you. It is and remains my goal to be clear and write in terms that good-willed people would be able to understand.

I hope this clears up any misunderstanding that may exist on the part of either of us, or of the users of this forum.

Thank you

Mark Koskenmaki

Hi Bob,

What do you mean, welcome back!! I didn't know Bill couldn't post, maybe you should reread this entire thread then maybe you can see the light.

I hope he does tell it like it is. ;)

I have asked direct questions and I think they need a direct and simple reply.

Maybe you and Bill and a few others don't like me asking questions but there they are, Please answer them, I don't need ten paragraphs of explanation just yes and no would do but I will read everything with great eagernes if it is longer.

Ron

EDIT::: Bob you should have already known what I said in the first paragraph because it was already stated on the ATS thread which you know about. You would be trying to stur the pot a little would you.

I have one more question.

When people Private mail me asking questions on how to obtain your services or an installer of yours should I bad mouth you or continue to hold you in utmost respect, which i have and even turned business your way?? I can slander you if you wish but I would need a signed agreement between us, just to protect me, not that I don't trust you or anything.

I feel this discussion is headed in the wrong direction so I will try and keep this as professional as posible.

Ron
