Fellow Rammers:

A friend has a '99 3500 47RE 3. 54s, 275 injectors and mild Superchip computer box. Has about 90K miles on the clock. After going thru the gears 60 mph + torque converter unlocks with slight accellerator pressure. Just started doing this. transmission doesn't run hot, no other symptoms.

Any idea what's wrong? Is the torque going out?

Thanks, Wiredawg

Your more likely to slip the O/D clutches vise the converter..... is a math area thing..... been there done that, but by all means call Bill.

Wiredawg you have a DTT builder in Dallas... ... read my sig!

Probably is the TC lockup clutches are shot. If the clutches in the trans were slipping the fluid would smell burnt faster than the TC lockup clutches would. Call Bill at DTT.

If he hasn't ever had the ecm reflashed, I would do that first. Mine did the same thing, but I didn't really notice it until after I had added horsepower. After the flash, the T/C didn't unlock nearly as easy.
Had it done at a local dodge dealer for $84. oo. My truck has only been in to a dealer two times, sums up my feelings! Also they said it was a pretty common problem with the 1999 model.

I know my 99 had that flash done by the previous owner. Never had shifting problems the first 20k miles, then they came. Internal leaking. Bill however fixed all transmission concerns when he installed the new DTT.

Good luck,

Clay
