Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Torque converter unlocking under light throttle

Hey guys, I did a search because I know I have seen this before but I didn'nt find anything. Under light throttle under 55 my torque converter is locking and unlocking. This is manifested as a surging feeling with 100-250 rpm swings in engine speed. Once I get above 55 the problem goes away.



Any ideas on what to start looking for?

I had the same problem. Two thinks they make a little box that quiets the electrical garbage to and from the transmission. This cleared it up on one of my trucks. The other is, and probably your problem the battery cables and or batteries are weak. I have found this to be the case 90% of the time. Clean the shiiiiiiis out of them and let the truck battery cables off for over 30 minutes. This will reset the puter and then cut the switch on and slowly ease the pedal to the floor to reset tps. i think i got all this correct. hope it helps, cya
