Is there an easy way (or any way) to drain the torque converter on a 2002 Dodge Cummins? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I don't think the stock converter has a drain plug. The only way to get most of the fluid out is to do a trans flush and I've heard that may not be the best idea.

To flush the transmission, i pulled the return line off the radiator and put it in a gallon jug. started the truck and let it pump 2 quarts out, shut off the truck and replaced the 2 quarts and started the truck and filled the jug. Replaced the 2 quarts and put a new jug under the line and did it over and over till i pumped all the fluid out. After about 26 quarts, the fluid was bright red and i was done. I do this every year and the truck has 211k on the original transmission,(re47).
Hope this helps.

I used this same method, except I only used 17 quarts. I could still see a night and day difference in the oil as the new oil started pumping out.

I have given up on my stock transmission, saving my money for an aftermarket one. Couple more months and I am going to order it...

I'm assuming your talking about it still in the truck... If you dont need the truck for a while just let it sit for a week or so. When I let my truck sit for that long and throw it into drive it takes a little bit till the truck starts moving cause the converter has drained.
