I have a '96 auto 47RE and wondered if anyone out there had any information regarding line pressure increases, affecting torque converter re-lockup after it disengages at freeway speed.

If you touch the brake and it unlocks, it doesn't want to relock, unless you really back of the throttle; then only sometimes does it work. From a dead stop it shifts normal.

I'm grasping at straws, as everything else is proving o. k. -cable is o. k. , tps o. k. , no codes in the PCM etc.

Call Dave Goerend, Goerend Brother's Transmission. Info in the links pages.

Do you have the linkage adjusted per FSM?

Edit: (brainflash)

Push down on the brake pedal, pull the brake light switch plunger out (it ratchets) and release the pedal. If the cruise will work when it's not upshifting this isn't the problem.

Thanks for the replies, but this is a 47RE (electronic control verses the RH-hydraulic control). The trans shifts just fine from a dead stop, right up thru the gears, whether hot or cold. Disengage it by touching the brake or letting off the gas suddenly at freeway speed, and lock up is history. Pulling over onto the shoulder and starting from a dead stop again, all is fine. Go figure!

Thanks for any input.
