Which torque converter performs the best? Not who has the best service or warranty. Which TC multiplies the torque the best and holds it when locked?

I am looking at Dave G's stuff and DTT and Dunrite and B & I in OKC.

just got a built trans from dtt and called them like 8 times in a row and answered everytime and answered every question good customer service and trans and flywheel look like quality stuff also don't get to try out till next week tho

I know I am wasting my time :rolleyes: but...

You NEED to get the whole trans built. TC/VB, billet input/output, machined clutch packs (to accept more frictions), etc.

With the juice alone, you will break the input shaft. It may take as much as a year but it will stress and break. Ask me how I know this :{

I have Goerends VB and TC since april of this year,very happy with both. I guess alot depends what your are going to do with your truck?I don,t drag race,1/4 mile times or hard launchs,mine has held up fine. coobie :D

"Best" is a relative term that is directly related to what you are trying to achieve. They are all good equipment and will function quite well if they are used correctly.

Clearly define what you want to do and what power levels then call the vendors and get their reccomendations. Anything one of us reccomends may be totally wrong for your truck and/or use.

If you want some input on how they perform in given situations thoroughly describe your truck and eqpuipment and what you want to accomplish. :)

Tell me what you like about your TC.

Thanks that is a good point. Here are the details. I live in OKC there are not a lot of hills and the highways all around are flat. This is my weekend truck. It stays in my shop during the week and comes out when I want to play or work it. I like messing with my friends and others at stop lights. I like being able to hook on to anything and pull it. I do not like having things break that immobilize me. I would love to buy a totally built trans from anyone, but I can't afford to do that. My plan was to wait and save up for one but my TC is forcing me to take action now. It does not like to lockup under load (towing) at level 2 of the Edge Juice/Att. I am looking at getting some injectors that would help with MPG. I don't want to go up in turbo or go completely wild. This truck takes me hunting and on any long trips that the fam makes. I bought a "Trans buddy kit" from Dunrite. This will increase my pump pressure and put in a shift kit for the VB. I will also replace the 1-2 Band lever to the thicker one. I know that there are lots of ways to build a TC and make it stronger. If I am going to spend 1k I want a strong Efficient TC. One that is going to do the best job of multiplying my torque and putting it to the ground. So my real question is will all of these Triple disk TCs perform with the same efficiency? I know that they are all strong and any one of them will be a vast improvement over the stock. But again I want to feel as if I spent every $ wisely.

The B&I is the cheapest and is local. The rest are about the same price which is about $400 more then B&I. Dave seems to have the best warranty. But I don't think it is going to matter because I don't here of people braking these TCs. I also understand getting what you pay for. So now tell me what you like most about your TC.

Recently did mine and went with the plain-jane single-disk TC from DTT... no extra mechanical wizardry, just time-proven, simple, and solid. Oh, and it pulls like a freight train...

Goerend has the best warranty, lifetime on a triple disk. He will build you a bottom dollar, single, or a billet stator triple disk, or anything in between. He is excellent to deal with and will help you. I sold a used goerend convertor to a guy, he called Dave and dave helped him rebuild his own transmission. Dave has returned my calles on xmas eve. Dave Rocks!!

Each torque converter can have its strong points depending what it is used for. I called Dave at Goerends and discussed my driving habits and needs THEN he built what I needed. I like the idea of a custom setup converter made for my needs instead of something pulled off the shelve.
