Any one have this problem towing with the automatics under load going up a steep grade ,I find I have to back of a bit . Is the clutch going ,Am I pushing to much torque through it ,Or is this normal ??
 
I would not say that is "normal". One time it happened to me and I checked the fluid level and it was just a little low. Trans was working great on level and other grades. After I made sure the fluid was all the way to the full mark with the trans in D, I tried that same steep hill again and no problems.
 
Mine used to slip a little while towing but only when cold. Fluid was slightly low and when it warmed up and expanded it worked fine. Filling it up cured the problem. Could also be low pressures in your trans or the clutch could be going. My stock clutch didn't seem to slip much while towing but when I upgraded my converter the old cover was burnt blue and the clutch was scored. Best way but not the safest way to check your fluid is in DRIVE with someone behind the wheel standing on the brake. That stops all the stuff inside from spinning and you get your most accurate reading. Otherwise make sure to check in NEUTRAL, not PARK like every other make of truck.
 
The fluid is o. k,I just had the transmission flushed . Other than pulling a steep grade it works great. I heard of a torque convertor out there called the DTT... can you supply more info on this please. . thanks
