probably seems like a newb question to all the auto transmission guru's ...

but i had the DTT installed at 90k and it has been FLAWLESS for the last 92k miles, not a seconds trouble in all that time (thank you DTT) ...

so here goes

fluid clean, full ...

battery grounds perfect ...

aluminum around alt wire ...

transmission functions as flawless as ever except under light throttle, ie. maintaining speed on level ... coming out of slight curve ... starting up slight grade ... 90% of WV 2 lane driving:-laf

started yesterday ... same today ...

i don't think it's a transmission problem ... seems like the signal to lock up has gone haywire ...

doesn't happen at all under moderate/full throttle . .

thanks

try one of the DTT noise filters. best $45 you will spend. Took care of my problem, which was exactly like yours, about 45K miles ago.

The Phone number for BD products is 1-800-887-5030. The filter is not listed on their website so you have to ask for it. Juust tell them you want the noise filter for your Dodge truck to keep the the transmission from locking and unlocking. It is easy to install and it works! Takes seconds to install... ...

BD has instructions when they ship it how to wire it in.

It connects to pin 28 on the C1 plug (one closest to the motor) on the ECM module or the computer as some call it. You don't have to cut any wires it clips right on the wire and the other wire goes to ground. Thats it! I tried everthing the last 5 years and this is the only thing that works. It is a ziener diode that grounds all the spikes coming from the alternator to the computer. It worked on mine now for a year. Not one problem. Well worth the none bucks, I would say..... Bob

Craig, I tried all of the fixes and most of them worked for a while. The only thing that ever worked, for a year now, is the filter from BD. Good luck with the ATS fix. It worked for a few months but eventually started again. The problem is, you must get rid of the voltage spikes from the alternator, that occur as it gets older. These spikes get induced into the other wires in the cables and we are only talking about half a volt DC, or so, on the pin 28 of the C! plug that is fed from the APPS. These spikes get into that circuit in the input of the computer and confuses it. Get the filter!

See you

Bob

Had same situation - went back to dealer and they re-flashed computer - I hadn't done anything to trans and about 15k - Hasn't done it since and 130k now

I changed out my alternator last winter to a new 200 amp PA Performance unit. I disconnected my noise filter just for the heck of it to see what would happen. I've been very happy with my DTT transmission shifting since I did the alternator swap out. I wonder if these new alternators are 'cleaner' noise wise. I'll post if I have to use my noise filter to fix a unlock problem but so far I'm very happy.
