Just finishing up a rear hub seal replacement/brake job. My shop manual says the axle shaft locking nut should be torqued to 120-140ft-lbs. That sure seems like a lot to put right on a bearing surface. Should this be in-lbs instead? Or is this the right spec?
After the torque is set the manual says to back off the nut 1/3 turn.
Sound right?
