A first timer , with good mechanical knowlege , and the proper tools at hand , should be able to do it in less than 2. 5 hours . The biggest PITA for me was getting the break - off screw out. other than that it wasn't bad at all.

Even a novice should be able to knock this out in less than 2 hrs I believe. Brent hit the nail on the head with the tamper proof screw though. CMNS PWR had some sort of small compact hacksaw when he took my rackstop out. I'll have to talk to him and see where you can get that because the easiest way to get that screw out is to cut a flathead screwdriver groove in it. I've had mine out several times thanks that that groove Daniel put in it.



Right tools should only consist of a few sockets and a screwdriver.

Easiest way I've found to remove the tamper proof screw is with a 3/16' CC wise turning drill bit designed for removing broken bolts. The bit will catch before you can drill though it and will turn the screw out. These bits are available at auto parts and hardware stores for a couple bucks. I always replace all four bolts so they have the same head, prefer allan.
 
I just got into mine today to see what mod's the previous owner made. Took me about 2 hours to get into, unscrew the plate to see where is was (stock plate - full forward) then re-tighten. I did not have to mess with the brake-off screw since it still had the head on it :) . biggest pain was moving the PrimeLock and finding the bolts I dropped under truck :rolleyes: . Also did not have to remove the fuel line.



Tools I used were:



a) flat head screw driver

b) 8,9 & 10mm wrench

c) 7/16" & 1/2" wrench

d) 8, 10MM sockets

e) flashlight

f) paper towl

g) rags to put in intercooler tube and over Grid heater



It would help to have small hands.

Plate Installed Today

Well I installed the BullyDog Stage two plate today & all I can say is WOW!. What a different truck. The Stage 2 took it from 180HP to purported 223HP. Installation was pretty easy with wrench time of a little over an hour. The breakoff screw came right out with a #15 Torx & impact driver. All Scews on AFC housing replaced with recommended Allen heads.
