OK all you plate guys, here is your chance to show your knowledge.

Question. My 95 with a 5spd is running on a #6 tst plate.

(chart says 250/635). When I asked TST about a 3K GSK they said it was not recommended for use with a #6 plate in my truck.

Why not? They really could not explain why except to say that I already had plenty of power. Yes the power is nice but defueling at 2400 RPM keeps me from downshifting on big mountain grades.

I hear everyone talking about how nice the GSK is and would like to try it, but if I need a different plate, which one should I get.

Thanks

Rog

when i talked to dtt about a trans i was told that i should get 3k gsk. i told them that i had a #6 plate. dtt told me that a #6 and 3k gsk will work fine. that what ill be running soon.

3KGSK

Get a gov spring kit the best money you'll ever spend on a upgrade, it will be a night and day difference when you drive your truck. I would suggest Piers Diesel is the best place to buy one!!Oo.

I have dealt with TST several times, they are a great diesel resource. They do know the Cummins, the owner has worked for Cummins as an engineer and as a outside contractor. I have much respect for his knowledge and quality of product and service. They will not recommend allot of the so called "power products", that seem to be common place on this and other sites. You might call them overly cautious, but they are only looking out for yours and others best interest. Yes others sell them, and yes people on this site have posted about there benefits, but TST doesn't seem to agree with their use. I respect their integrity, they could easily sell the the 3K kits and everything else that the competition sells and make much more money. But that isn't their style, they don't change their view's to suit every cash bearing customer that enters their shop, they stand by their convictions, and only sell or suggest what is best for your Cummins. I too have asked about allot of the popular add-ons, and was told it would be best to do much less then I had thought. I trusted TST's judgment and went with their recommendations, I have not be sorry since. I have loads of power, low EGT's and low engine and trany temps.

Trade the #6 for a #10, put the 3K's in it and be done!

Yea I know they though I was crazy too! Why don't you call the folks at PDR and ask what they recommend!

Jim

I agree Jim. Adding the 3k GSK from PDR was the most fun and pleasing mod yet for the $$$. It is amazing what a set of 370's, 3k GSK, a #10,and a 16cm housing will do. Add a BHAF and for less than a grand you have more than likely doubled you rear wheel output. These under valved units are simply amazing. :D
