Since I don't have the shop manual, could you please help me the the torque specification for the lug nuts and also the exhaust manifold.

Thanks
Frank

Maybe that's where I got the 115. I split the difference so I could get them off in case I had a flat and didn't have my pull bar with me. 135 is tight. Real tight.

Well I tighten everything up and the manifold bolts were very loose. Does alot of people have this problem?

Also, it seems less loud in the cab.

I haven't checked mine lately but I did at about 10K miles. What I found loose was the intake manifold bolts. Some were a couple of turns out. Also, the top plate (holds the shifter in) on my 6 speed was leaking lube. The two rear bolts were loose on it. The funny thing is that all of these components are assembled in different places, ie. Cummins, NVG, DC assembly in Mexico. I don't know how it happens, but it happens. Things are loose after breakin. Look at Ford... ... turbo bolts falling out. It's an epidemic.

I hope I don't have a front tire go flat at 145 ft-lbs. 8 of those nasty critters would tend to put the hurt on a man. #ad

No kidding Semi! ftb87 prompted me to look in the manual for the answer. Now the torque wrench is doing duty "in" the truck and not the tool box #ad
You guys also reminded me to check those nasty under hood bolts as well. Had the "check exhaust manifold bolts' on my to-do list for weeks. Time to get up and DO it.

Thanks!

David

ftb87,

Torqued my exhaust manifold bolts at about 4K and again at 13K. They still have not stabilized #ad

As per the 2001 Service Manual:

BR1500 (5 stud wheel) 95 ft. lbs.

BR2500 (8 stud wheel) 135 ft. lbs.

BR3500 (8 stud dual wheel) 145 ft. lbs.

I think that covers everyone #ad

Hope this helps you and others,

#ad
