Just put on a set of 16x8 M/T Challengers with 285 BFG A/Ts. Love the ride. After many different tires over the years, it is still hard to beat the good old BFGs. Nice to get rid of the pizza cutter 245s, although at 40k, they still have 20k left to go. No complaints other than size. All of this thanks to getting rear-ended two weeks ago, and the Tommy Gate taking the blow in stride. Only real damage was shearing off one of the bolts on the hitch that had been added during the DC recall.

What is the torque for the lugs with these rims? I set them at 90 ft/lbs, but should they be higher? I was going to ask Desert Rat where I bought them here in Phx. , but the dude was so clueless in general, I figure I'd ask the pros.

Thanks.

I have allways used the specs out of the book. Whether stock or aftermarket wheels. Torque is 120 to 150 ft lb.

I have Alcoa's on my dually. (not sure if being M/T would make a difference) but the torque spec from McGard for the chromed lug nuts and locks was 140 ft lbs.

I have Alcoa's as well, and e-mailed Alcoa tech support when I got them. They recommended 140 Ft\Lbs. Be careful with the lug nuts you use. The first set I got were some chrome ones (about 2" long),that twisted at anything above 100 Ft\Lbs,and were so soft they always came loose.

I torque my Alcoa Classics @ 130ft/lbs.

I've been told many times that the lugs on Aluminum wheels should ALWAYS be retorqued after 50-100 miles.

I usually torque them after a round trip to work (85 miles). I seem to get about an eighth to a quarter turn out of the torque wrench. That tells me that the advice is true.

I also tested this advice on the steel wheels and I did not get the same results.
