The aFe comes pre-oiled. Tom, from the sounds of it, I guess I will be replacing the TT when the new turbo goes on. BTW, I got the original metal one.

you dont have too. . its just a tight fit. . But the TT is on my truck right now :)

Question:

Why is it so easy to bark the turbo now that I have a Stage II installed? When down shifting from 6th to 5th for more rpms under load, I have to very, very careful or it'll really bark the turbo.

Also, the coupler from the TT to the turbo melted a little. I think I had it up on the turbo a little too much. Any comments?

Wierd, mine too! Smelt terrible. . thought I burnt something bad...

But it stopped smelling now. . who knows

UPDATE:

I finally got sick of the TT contacting the oil filter and the terrible fit had to be not helping the airflow...

So I just ordered the Cool Blue hose and will be doing a very un-scientific test, I will try to measure the pull down vacuum by using the factory gauges or other gauges I have, before and after TT and C. B. H - AND I also bought a UNI filter too - So I will try to measure all 4 different combos

till then.....

PS - I would not have this problem if I had the 3rd gen HTT turbo, But I have the 2nd gen one, Just clocked to fit (kinda) a 3rd gen... . ohh well

UNI Filter

So how do you like the UNI fliter? Any residue inside the intake?
Tomeygun, when you get your UNI filter oil it per the instructions on the cleaning kit to get a good even film on the filter. If the oiling is even when installed the oil will stay in place and you won't get any coming into the intake.

I like the looks of the cool blue hose. I'd prefer a nice silicone flexible hose over the metal or plastic TT. Eventually when I decide on my future air box setup I'll probably use the CBH.

I have a cool blue hose and like it. It's made out of the same material that's used in aviation applications for pressure ducting. I'd pretty much go with any tube as long as it's a one-piece design (easier to remove to get at oil filter and such) and was soft enough to allow the insertion of a flow straightener of some sort.

OK, got both items a few days ago, Cool Blue hose and the 908 UNI filter...

I put in the CBH right away. and might I add, it was very easy to install, and fit WAY BETTER than my AFE TT... . I have a 2nd gen turbo on my truck, so it is a tight fit on a TT with the AFE intake...

It sounds much better now, the turbo whistle is more clear, but about the same loudness. I will post when I get the UNI in

UNI still not in, But I for sure like the CBH way better than the AFE/TT

No more TT ever on my truck, I was on vacation the last week, so I will try and get the UNI on soon
