torque tube melted?

anyone have the boot from the afe torque tube melt where it attaches to the turbo??

Yep, Several people have reported this. AFE was supposed to design one made from a material that would stand up better to heat, not sure if they ever did. If you call AFE they will send out a replacement at no cost to you.

It is almost silly how many people have had this happen!! AFE really should get this worked out post-haste. Sending it out for a quick replacement is great but it still means letting the truck sit or swapping in the stock box while you wait, and time=money!!!

how high are the egt's when this boot melts? i just ordered a stage 2 from genos, not sure if i want to install it now

EGT's have been kept under 1350.

Yes, AFE is bad at doing that. They seem to do little testing in R&D. Very nice company, will replace no questions but they just want to give the same one back. They do not want to update the product b/c of higher costs. .

They updated there kits to include a higher quality rubber coupler. They have been that way for a little over a month.

I don't know how accurate this is so take it for what it's worth. It was my understanding that a supplier changed the coupler without aFe knowing and that's how the crappy hose got into the picture. I've had my updated one for a couple of months now and it's a much higher quality piece. I haven't towed with it yet, but have no doubt that it'll be fine.

You are correct, I was out at AFE last week and the supplier made a composition change and it wasn't up to the task and heat. They now send a heavy duty hose with fiber braid in it that is that is used in industrial applications, it won't give you any problems at all.
