HI all,

What type of torque wrenches are required for the band adjustment on the 48RE transmission? I believe the one for the locking bolt is a normal torque wrench for around 30-35ft lbs, but the adjusting screw is the one i'm not sure of. What is that one, and where can i get it? Does Autozone have it as part of their loaner wrenches?

Thanks Guys!!

It's the same as mine. Same transmission i believe, the 48RE. I did a search on TORX, and i saw it has a socket fitting on one end. Guess i got confused, thought it was some sort of screwdriver type deal. Got it now.

Thanks!!

I think I'd be very leery about using an AutoZone loaner torque wrench. Gives me the heeby-geebies just thinking about the abuse that tool has gone through!

I agree. To be honest, i didn't really think about that until you mentioned it! I'll buy my own set... they can't be that expensive.

You might also consider a 1/4" torque wrench due to the low torque needed on the bands. Made the adjustments on mine much easier.

Thanks. 1/4" drive torque wrench for the adjusting screw, which is in inch/lbs. The lock nut is in ft. lbs. Any particular drive size for the lock nut? 1/4" or 3/8"?
