My Snapper was used commercially and is on it's second or third engine since I got it. Latest is a 6. 5 hp Briggs overhead valve. It has required more maintenance than the L-head engine but the power curve is a lot better. It has a better chance of recovering if you slug it with a fire ant bed or something.
Only thing that bugs me, why did Briggs not wait 5 years or so before they released the the OHV engines. Buick had them in 1903. Why did Briggs not wait a full 100 years to make sure OHV was not just a fad?
