Well, time for the annual family road trip. This year's destination is Kentucky and the time is the first two weeks in June. Anyone have any good suggestions of what we should go see?
We prefer going to the National and State Parks & Forests (Yellowstone, White Mountains) over the typical tourist traps (Gatlinsburg, Bar Harbor). Although, having two small boys (5 & 2. 5 years old), some of the kid friendly stuff is helpful too. We like to hike, see natural attractions and travel back roads. I like to do a little off road driving in the mountains too. We usually camp in the back of the truck along the way.
So far, I have in mind to spend some time in Daniel Boone National Forest, visit Mammoth Cave and the Land Between the Lakes. We might venture north into Illinois or south into Tennessee if there is something close and worth checking out.
Any details on those areas or anything else would be really helpful. Usually, we travel in the fall and I have all summer to plan. This year we've been busy with the garden and all and the trip is coming up fast.
