Troubleshooting electric trailer brakes?

Well, time for the annual family road trip. This year's destination is Kentucky and the time is the first two weeks in June. Anyone have any good suggestions of what we should go see?

We prefer going to the National and State Parks & Forests (Yellowstone, White Mountains) over the typical tourist traps (Gatlinsburg, Bar Harbor). Although, having two small boys (5 & 2. 5 years old), some of the kid friendly stuff is helpful too. We like to hike, see natural attractions and travel back roads. I like to do a little off road driving in the mountains too. We usually camp in the back of the truck along the way.

So far, I have in mind to spend some time in Daniel Boone National Forest, visit Mammoth Cave and the Land Between the Lakes. We might venture north into Illinois or south into Tennessee if there is something close and worth checking out.

Any details on those areas or anything else would be really helpful. Usually, we travel in the fall and I have all summer to plan. This year we've been busy with the garden and all and the trip is coming up fast.

I used this site, Federal recreation, camping and tour reservation information - Recreation.gov, to make our reservation last year at Hillman Ferry Campground. This was in the land between the lakes. This is the northern campground but this still may be closed do to an ice storm from last years winter. I know the park was closed in May of this year, do to clean up operations there. We traveled down to Tennessee and visited Fort Henry and Fort Donelson of the Civil War time period. This was just out side from Land Between the Lakes.

There is a very good family type restaurant in Grand Rivers, I believe this is right before you enter the Land Between the Lakes on the Trace Road. This is 20 to 30 min from Hillman Ferry campgrounds. When you head south on the Trace towards Tennessee there is a visitor center that is open and will explain how the land between the lakes was formed and why by the Federal Government. If you fish this is a great area for fishing. Good Luck and enjoy your self.

Kentucky is a great state with an endless variety of family oriented activites. When my kids were young, we visited the land between the lakes, the Corvette museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, the quilting museum in Paducah and for good measure the Air Force Museum near Dayton, OH. Good campgrounds abound and as the other poster suggested, I hope you enjoy fishing as some of the best exists in KY. Hope you have a safe and wonderful trip with your family. G.
