Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) tourqe convertor?

i was driving down the highway last week not pulling a load and my engin started to rev higher then normal. it almost seems like the tourque converter unlocked? can a torque converter halfway unlock? going about 70mph the rpms were at about 2100 and it seemed like when i hit the gas ther wasnt as much power . i hid the od button and took it out of over drive and then put it back in it went back to normal for a bit then did it again. the torque converter has around 10000 miles on it and the person who had it before( my grandpa) put a new stock one in. anyone have any input on this im just lost

with your setup yes you are do for a convetor although it could be somthing else but bieng a stock convetor my money is on the convetor my dad's 97 it just stock fuel plate slide foward and star wheel adjusted and I can make the convetor slip if I want to.

If it did unlock, it might be a pressure problem too. Hook up a pressure gauge and go for a ride.

The throttle position sensor (TPS) can cause this. Do a search on TPS and converter. There will be lots of information. Wish I could remember the details.
