Towing Boat Behind Camper

Has anyone had experience with pulling older military vechicles. I have a 1951 M-37 and want to pull it with a drawtite 5,000 lb tow bar . Will it track right and is there any tips I should be aware of . Would rather do this if it is feasible rather than dealing with a tow dolly. Mostly just around town hauls . The m-37 proably weighs in around 5,000. Thanks RJ

Towing vehicles

I think you would be better off hauling you M 37 on a trailer. The 37 is heavy and you won't have brakes. The steering is slugish, and sometimes won't return to center, you can't disconnect the front axel with out removing the hubs, and finally the drive train won't hold up to modern highway speeds. Been there, done that, wasn't happy with the results for those reasons.

Good luck, Denny

In addition to what C. D. Day said it is almost impossible to backup if you ever have to with a tow bar and turning at highway speed can be a little hairy as well.
