Fifth Wheel Hitch?

Rancho shocks in cab controller

 When am I to use the tow/haul mode button, flat strips of highway OK not to use, just when? Towing rear hitch trailer 6/7000 lbs w/3500 `05 auto quadcab. I`ve read some threads in here as to the use for down hill breaking by hitting the button. When I tow, my understanding is that overdrive could be harmful, is this true? Very confused as when to apply the tow/haul mode.

If you are towing or hauling a heavy load, leave it in "Tow/Haul" and forget about it. It just changes the shift points so you can get rolling easier and the TC stays locked when shifting from 3rd to overdrive. You won't hurt a thing. The transmission is rated to tow in overdrive, you can't turn overdrive off on a 2005 truck. This is different than on previous years when "Tow/Haul" turned off overdrive. Towing a light load like you are barely stresses anything at all. When in "Tow/Haul" going downhill, it will downshift by itself when you step on the brakes. It's an automatic transmission and works "automatically", don't get confused trying to do things manually. Just remember, empty truck, normal setting, big load or towing, Tow/Haul. Enjoy!! :D

I don't use it unless the transmission gets to "hunting". If it does then I use the tow/haul. I also use it if starting up a steep pull. Doesn't seen the shift as hard.

I use mine all the time. When you let off the fuel with the tow /haul off the tc unlocks and you coast freely. I would rather have it hold me back some and save my brakes. The tc unlocking all the time is not good either.
