I did a search and some members said that the 3rd gen requires "brackets" behind the tow hooks.

My sport has the "plates" to bolt the hooks to, but I'm wondering if there are additional "brackets" to back up the plates. These diagrams only show the "plates" that I already have? Am I missing something?

Any body have the OEM tow hooks they'd like to off?

I removed my tow hooks to attach my Push Bar, then reattached the tow hooks. The only plate to bolt the tow hooks are welded to ends of the frame. It is very difficult to get the washer and nut started on the bolt due to the small space between the frame and the radiator. The only thing that worked for me was a long needle nose Vise Grip to hold the nut.

There are additional plates. I added the hooks to my '03 dually which did not come with them. I skipped the extra plates when I put them on though as it would have added a bunch of work and didn't appear to make much difference. After a few years of being dragged through muddy jobsites with a big trailer on, I think I would be perfectly comfortable leaving them out again. I do not recall exactly where they were supposed to go so I can't be any help there:rolleyes:

There are 4 brackets, two for each side of the truck. They go on both sides of the frame rail. These are in addition to the plates that you refered to.
