Tow Hooks for 2003

Hello all.



Does anyone know if there are different tow hooks for the 1500/2500 3G trucks?



I haven't been able to find much on the internet about them, but I did find these on ebay:

I tried to look up the part numbers, but no luck. Are these things really $506. 70?



Has anyone installed their own? What's involved?

I had planned on installing some factory hooks on my CTD and having them chromed, but if they cost that much for get it. I was a little surprized that tow hooks were a optional item. All my other 4x4 had them. My truck did'nt have the driver's power seat either and that made the coin holder a optional item according to the sales manager. :--)

Tow Hooks

2003 tow hook part number is 82207917. If you ordered them installed at the factory as your truck was being built, invoice cost was $44. 00 according to Costco and Consumer Reports. List price over-the-counter at a dealership is $115. 00. The truck I purchased did not have them factory-installed; the dealer agreed to install a set for $139. 50 total, parts and labor. Dealer estimated about 45 minutes for tech to install, so dealer was selling to me for about $90. 00, plus labor.

I bought the hooks from my dealer $115 - 10% discount. Put them on myself with a buddy took us 25 minutes. The hooks come with brackets to mount a bumper which I didn't need since the bumper was already on. probably why it cost $115. I didn't like the the hardware so I went and purchsed grade 8 fasteners. The instructions have you removing the front bumper and installing the hooks and then replacing the bumper,but by opening the hood to get access from above and two people they are easy to install.

That's a lot more reasonable price--------may have to reconsider putting them on after all. Oo.
