Went with a friend to price a 2002 2500 CTD. Dealer stated that tow hooks are no longer available as a factory option. Must be installed as an option through parts dept. Told him that factory ones would bend too easy, so DC eliminated them. (BS to me) Is this correct? Maybe that's why rear cup holders, passenger roof grab bar, visor vanity lighted mirrors, rear inner fender shields, taik gate trim and full body side moldings were dropped; probably bent to easy. Means that Sport bumper will not permit installiation without cutting bumper. Same problem for air dam option. The more DC cheapens these trucks w/o a price reduction the more Ford and Chevy will start appealing to Ram owners or wannabees. Do the brains (not) at DC think we are so hooked on these trucks that they can throw what they want at us and like blind sheep we will keep buying their product. It's time for us to get vocal and let DC know how we feel or am I the only one who is not going to tolerate this careless attitude. :mad: :{

as far as i know tow hooks were never a option on the dodges. i have a set of the tow hooks from the parts dept. they are not flimsy, they are rated at 8k#'s each. but they are around $150, i don't have them mounted on my sport yet becuase of the bumper, i did have them mounted on my 01 and they are a very nice add on.

Sounds like BS to me too. Check with another dealership. When I ordered my truck, the "Truck Sales Manager" (he really was) told me that I should absolutely not order the Snow Plow Prep package. I wanted every heavy duty option available. I asked him what it included and why I shouldn't order it. This is what he told me (I am not kidding! 5 Star dealer!): "As you can see by the description, it includes computer assisted front spring selection, this means that the computer is always adjusting your front springs and they are much less reliable than the regular heavy duty springs that come without the option". "It's just another moving part to go wrong". I should have checked another source. My truck came with very light duty front springs (038,039 as I remember). As for the Tow Hooks, I ordered mine through the parts dept. They are fantastic and very heavy duty. Why wouldn't they just use those on the production line? I cut the holes in my Air Dam with a Roto-Zip tool and cleaned the opening up with a Dremel. The outline for the opening was already printed on the Air Dam. They look totaly factory.

One of us needs to sit down and design a cheap rugged tow hook set up. I have been meaning to but I have been alittle busy lately, maybe I just need to get my priorities straight. 150 bucks seems alot for those flimsy looking stock hooks.

there is nothing flimsy about the oem hooks. i was i little upset by the price until i picked up the box. it weighed about 25-30lbs. like i said the factory rates each hook at 8k#'s. it comes with some great brackets to bolt these heavey hooks to.

I installed mine also. Brackets attach with three or four HD Bolts, and then the hoods attach. I do not think one could make anything as strong at close to the cost. SNOKING
