Well I convinced myself I need some tow hooks on the front of my truck. You guessed it. Stuck it up to the axles.

Reading all these scripts about blowing past Chubbies and Powerjokes, I thought I would pass along the other side of life.

More operator error than truck limitations:mad: ! I had about 5cu. yds. of pea gravel on my trailer, for my pretty little 6 yr. old's playset area, when all of a sudden the bottom fell out of the yard. We had about 1" of rain a week ago but I never thought it would still be this wet. While pulling off the road I was crawling, being careful not to drop an axle off the asphalt and roll my gooseneck. Low and behold uphill both ways while crawling = stuck truck.

I've seen Sport packages with cut outs / dimples in the lower air dam to allow installation of tow hooks. Is this only a factory option? I want to keep the factory look on the front and don't want a rough appearance.

Any resources for these parts or costs estimates??

Needless to say there was a lot of unscheduled shoveling over the weekend. But job is done and the little darling has thrown have of the gravel back into the yard already! :p :p :) She's tooooo special! I better stop or I'll get rambling on about her:D :D

Take Care, God Bless Our Troops, Firemen, Police and those who serve!

I'm pretty sure that the cutouts are outlined on the back side of your fascia for the towhook notches. Once they're cut out the factory Mopar towhook package will bolt in and everything should be happy happy... . :D

I went with a Hidden Hitch front receiver on my truck-I figured if I do have to pull this beached whale out I'd just as soon be pulling on both frame rails. Plus then I only had to cut 1 hole in the fascia :) -but it took 4 months to work up the nerve to do it! I used a sharp knife to cut through-probably could use a jigsaw with a fine-toothed blade too but that may be overkill. I had to cut a part of the steel reinforcement behind the fascia too-used an air chisel but if I wasn't so lazy I could have used a hacksaw :D .

The final install turned out better than I hoped actually-I did nick the fascia in 1 place where the knife slipped  but the hitch itself hides remarkably well. Now that it's on I'm sure I won't get stuck-but maybe I can use it to pull out my bosses' Powerstrokes ;)

Hope this info is of some use to you

I haven't taken any yet of the finished product (and I was too stupid to when I was putting it in :) ) but I am going to try and get some this weekend-assuming the nice weather they're calling for actually arrives. Need some good shots to put on my webpage anyway!

So if things do go as planned I'll fire some pics onto my website and let you know! It's really not as bad as I had it figured to be-just took a little nerve to make that 1st cut.

When I installed my tow hooks, the instructions talked about having to cut the notches out of the Sport fascia.

I've also seen (only on 1500 series RAMs though) a newer Sport front end with the tow hook cut-outs already there, and they look sharp. I figured if/when I ever get around to updating my truck to the Sport look, I would order this fascia.

So... you can go the inexpensive route and modify your fascia, or you can go the expensive route and buy the newer one and have it painted.
