I recently got a crack in my rider's side power trailer lowing mirror, I ordered a replacement glass but did not get it installed, has anyone done this or have any hints, thanks

Any updates??? I've got a cracked mirror that looks like it could get nasty if I leave it. Where can I get an exact replacement for the factory glass?

My dealer sent me a X-mas wish catalog that has a new style tow mirror available. It looks a lot like the CIPA's available from Geno's. If I can't find the glass easy enough or it's too much BS to go thru I'll just order a set of new ones. I like the looks of them better anyway. $266 for power heated, $371 w/marker-blinker.

I got my broken mirror replacement from my local auto glass company. I believe they ordered it from "Ready Made" glass company. I had it the next day and installed it, fairly easy to do with double sided foam tape and some silicon adhesive. Hardest part was getting the old mirror out.

The dealer has the replacement glasses and they shouldn't be more than about $75. The way you replace it is by moving the mirror so that it is facing the ground and then unclip the metal clip.

$82 for the glass + install of about $30. I decided to go with the new mirrors 'cause I've got lots of $$ from my Dodge Visa that I can use at the dealer. Brings the cost of the mirrors down to just above the cost of the glass. :D

Also, the cost of the mirrors in the little catalog they sent out is WRONG. Parts guy said after talking to me he went thru it and that's the only thing they screwed up, what a shock. :rolleyes: Actual prices are about $100 more than shown. :{

My local glass shop got one and installed it for 40 bucks. There is a company making them and they list about half that. Not sure if you can get them direct though.

The price I gave for the glass was fom a glass shop. My dealer said they couldn't even get one. I would guess they have never even tried. I could probably do the install myself, but I've never done any sort of glass/mirror work before. It doesn't look too complicated, but I don't want to screw it up and then sit for a week until someone else can do it. Downtime costs me more than the mirrors will.
