Tow Mirror

My passanger mirror caught the mirror on a truck next to mine and my mirror pulled back farther than the stop detent. It does not show anything broken, but the detents do not work now and the mirror is raised up about a quarter inch above where it is supposed to be. I have it duct-taped now to keep it rigid.



I have the service manual on disk, but only shows how to remove it. Does anyone have any suggestions how to get into the plastic cover and see what I have to fix to get back like new?

I don't know how to fix it. If you need to buy just one I have seen them on ebay. I bought a pair for around $200. 00.

I just got mine fixed for the same problem. I took the mirror off the door , put it in a vise upside down and actuated it a bunch of times really hard and I guess the balls in there reseated themselves and now it works great again.
