has anybody measured their tow mirrors in the extended position? one sticks out further than the other. my drivers side is an 1. 25 longer than passanger??? when folded in , it in only out . 75 of and inch.

hadn't noticed that... ... . kinda strange. I did however see my passenger side mirror smak a tree branch when extended... nice scratch on it now. Oh and i also had a run in with a auto-car wash. I guess they weren't kidding when they said to fold them in for washing. No i go through a touchless.

I never thought of a reason to measure them but I did notice that whether in up or down position, the power movement still works correctly. Right is right and left is left and so on.

jeepin, i thought that was pretty cool how they move correctly regardless of their position. When i got my 03 i was thinking there is no way these are going to work when i swing them out, but they do. ... Crazy

Hehe, it's like the mirrors are possessed by Mrs. Cleo.

maybe the make several different lengths (two). i replace my passanger tow mirror, it was damaged in car wash. when i installed the new one i noticed the differenence. can someone measure theirs

I just went out and took some measurements on mine. I found about the same difference as you did but I noticed something else worth noting. The passenger mirror assembly is also swept back at more of an angle than the driver's side. With your mirror glass posistion on both mirrors adjusted for a driver, you will also notice that the mirror glass posistions relative to their housings is about the same when comparing both sides.

Since the passenger mirror is swept back more than the driver's, it will be a little shorter distance from the outer edge straight in towards the door window.

Interesting topic. Just one of those little things that engineers actually do right but never get the appreciation for. I never would have noticed a difference from side to side myself without reading this post. Now if we can just get them to stop jamming half the engine under the windshield cowling/dashboard,we might be getting somewhere with them.
