Where would I pick up some good, strong tow ropes/straps???

I was looking at these.

If I was smart I would have picked some up at the off-road jamboree when it was in Indy. The bank account/girlfriend said I didnt need any. What happens today??? Get a call asking if I can pull someone that wanted to "see how he could do" off road.

I have one just like that, rated for 20k lbs, it is actually the second one I have had, I have used them for all sorts of things, the worst being pulling out stumps with my truck, I snapped the first one, but it was getting pretty deteriated from use so I was not surprised. Those are the safest I think, I always put a blanket over it when using it, I just insert one end into the reciever opening and put the pin through the loop, I also slowly take all the slack out before giving it full power.

Go 30k or higher, if you’re using them to tug or pull on things DO NOT get chain or ones with metal hooks, really dangerous...

Plus, DO NOT use a strap and chain together. If one of them braeks, the strap will act as a slingshot. Could kill some one. Boss BARELY missed being hit in the head with a chain doing that. It blew out 2 windows on the tractor. This was over 7yrs ago, and still find pieces of glass from the windows.

Go for as long and as high a rating as you can get. 25 feet leaves you too close to standing trees when rescuing a stuck chain saw and not close enough to people stuck in the far side of the ditch when it's really mushy in the spring. The one you are looking at will last for about 15-25 trees if you pull them out of the woods or one really large tree that has roots still in the ground. I go through a 20K lb USA tow strap every two years:

Check this place out:

30 footer to 43K lbs or more

Oh, the clevis hitch thingy would be a really good thing to have too as the strap can get really tight around the ball and receiver if you yank really hard.

05ram3500- 4-wheel Drive Parts over here on the East side of INDY has really nice tow straps at OK prices. That isn't to far a drive for you. -Jason

a four wheel drive parts place is probably your best bet. if you are pulling stumps and such it does not really matter, but trying to free a stuck vehicle a strap that stretches is much more powerful and easier on both vehicles it uses your momentum so when you get tension it acts like a rubber band and yanks the stuck rig rather than violently ripping it free and needing all people to have to see a dentist.

if your going to be doing alot of wheeling look into a front mount receiver, safe and versatile, JcWhittney sells them for our trucks...

a buddy of mine parks his 28’ car hauler between his garage and house, it just barely fits, and he has to back it in, he uses the front mount to park the trailer, it’s really easy to see when it’s in front of you…there is another advantage of that verse tow hooks…
