Can I tow my w250 4x4 behind a little Peterbilt water truck with a tow bar. Or is 4x4 a problem? If so, can I unhook front shaft and then tow it? It would make moving from job to job so much easier. Thanks, Barry
I've flat towed several and it's fine. Just remember to unlock the steering column. As long as the tow vehicle is heavier it works pretty good. You also want to make sure the towbar is level when towing. Hope this helps.
One important thing, some first gens have really weak bumper brackets. I would seriously consider using a towbar that mounts directly to the frame.
I've got a Blue Ox brand tow bar, it is designed for uneven ground and you only have to get"close" to hook up. the arms will extend and rotate to hook up the towed vehicle. Very quick and easy. Cars require a base plate but you could get a welder to make one up.
Mine is a reciever mount so it can stay with the tow vehicle or be removed.
