What's your axle ratio?

Steep and steeper

How come everyone is paying for their reflash, if your complaining of lack of power then the reflashes should be covered under warrenty. IMO Some dealers have no morals, if your truck is under warrenty then anything should be covered unless you voided your warrenty some how. I have the camper hooked up and ready to go at 5:00am to have it raised about 3in. Do not like towing camper in winter but i wanted this taken care of before spring rush. Regards, Ron

I agree with what Tlippy said about the number. That number does not make sense. But I've known that fella a long time, and I dont think he would do me wrong. And as far as the $40,mine was free. The number is not listed under the TSB list for any year. Sooo I dont know.

JNutter,
I agree with you. When the reflash was done, I didnt ask alot of questions. He just smiled and said she was gonna pull a whole lot better.

Guys, I hate to give you bad news, but if in fact the tsb # that was written on your repair order as a reflash tsb for a Cummins engine, someone must have been sniffing some glue. The subject heading on tsb #18-36-95 is "EGR Monitor Faults and/or Sag or Hesitation on Cold Below 32 Degrees Fahrenheit". I know the heading seems to leave out a couple of words, but this reflash is for a 1995 Neon. There is a tsb #18-29-95 Rev A that covers "Diesel Low Power/Poor Performance" for the 1994-1995 trucks with an automatic trans that covers some items to check but does not include a reflash. Just had to throw my 2 pennies in.

Well iam back and not much of any improvement. Fuel mileage is the same. After the pcm reflash it now will lock up in 3rd gear at 30 mph and with 3:54 gears thats too low of rpm's and the transmission will shudder so i have to pull it down to 2nd gear but at 25 mph it's o. k. (no lock up). I do not mind the tc locking up at 30 mph cause this will help keep transmission cool on long hill pulls and if i need to keep the transmission from shuddering all i have to do is put it in 2nd. I was hopeing for better results, i guess i will keep looking, maybe one of them timeing boxes will help. Regards, Ron

Had a talk with the service mgr yesterday.
They used TSB 21-14-99. But that does not mean much. The reflash is the latest and greatest recal from DC which includes all updates that relate to the ECM or PCM. The TSB number is used for epa referal for authorization to recalibrate. They could have used TSB 18-15-00 but would have recieved the same recal as 21-14-99.
y2k's will get a different recal than a 98,99 or y2k1 as different EPA emmisions.
The round trip to Tulsa was uneventful and no change in fuel mileage or performance.

Every one that had a reflash done will have a sticker on the under side of the hood that will have a line that says " authority". Under that word will be the TSB # might or might have the "TSB" but will have XX-XX-XX, the X's will be the TSB number.

Ok guys; FESS UP, lets see what year truck you have, as several did not put it in at least one post( or maybe don't know what year #ad
)and what TSB numer is on the sticker.

Jnutter, I have had two (2) reflashes and have no stickers under the hood or in the door jams.

Well, I towed my 5th wheel this weekend. I can verify that the reflash of the ECM and PCM was succesful. For one I can feel the extra power when on hills, and the torque converter locks in better, and it holds when under load. At this point I dont care what the TSB # is. All I know is my truck pulls like it should.

Big A, do you tow in 3rd lockup or 4th lockup, and whats your fuel mileage while towing, if you don't have after reflash numbers thats o. k. just let me know if it's before or after. I get 7mpg towing close to 20,000lbs in 3rd lockup and 8. 5 towing in 4th lockup. With the amount of weight i tow i'am going back to towing in 3rd lockup, IMO the 1. 5 mpg difference is not worth a transmission rebuild. Regards, Ron

Ron,
My trailer has a GWR of 9700lbs. I dont think I was at that weight. But the trip back from Colorado Springs was mostly uphill, and I got just over 13 mpg. I stayed in 3rd lockup before I jumped on the HWY(about 20 miles). And was able to run about 70 on the HWY in 4th lockup. I downshifted into 3rd lockup on one hill(Monument Hill)and pulled it at 62 with throttle left and not much work. I agree with you on staying in 3rd lockup with the weight that your pulling. I will be pulling my 21ft ski boat behind my 5th wheel this summer, and I'll probably stay out of overdrive. BTW these are all after reflash numbers. I'll give better numbers after my next trip. So far I'm a happy camper
