I tow quite a bit and I "mildly" bombed my rig. I installed DD1's and the EZ(set on the mildest setting). I never have to back off because of EGT's and love the power. IMO, bombing above this level requires one to "grow a brain" and not use the power uninteruptedly while under heavy load. mine is a 99.

Echoing Steve

Dittos to what Steve said. I have the EZ and I am going to install BD Stage III's sometime this summer. I will have fun with the power, but my main objective is to put more a$$ into the truck when towing my trailer. I've been told that I will eventually start slipping my clutch with the setup I will have, but I want to see if I can make the stock clutch co-exist with the injectors :D I did talk to Peter about a clutch. Told the wife I need six big ones last night for a clutch  Just in case  Ahh, life is good. :D

I have a friend who tows 8500lbs. of travel trailer with a K&N, 4" exhaust, BD stage III's and an EZ box set on timing only. His max EGT readings have been about 1250 degrees while towing thru the Ozark Mountains. The extra power he had was useless to him, until he BOMBed his automatic transmission and torque converter. The setup I have now has made me..... - er -..... I mean made "HIM" one very, very Happy Camper. ;)

The post above about growing a brain is good. If you BOMB, you must watch those gauges, with or without a load.

I haul a 10ft camper(3000lb dry) and also pull many trailers from 3800 lbs to 12,800lbs. I, unlike another post above, have had to back out of the throttle a time or two for EGTs. See signature for BOMBs.

sure, bomb and tow away, with the EZ i can run the powermax3 on 5-6 on the open roads and 3-4 on the hills. definately would not be able to without the DTT upgrades. my 5er is 10k loaded.

:) I tow a 10500 lb 5er. Added VA, KN, 4" exhaust, guages and a BD Brake. Provides all the power I need. Towed it over Snoqualamee pass and never fell below 60mph. Average about 12mpg.

ABSOLUTELY!! I have a 10 level adjustable Powermax3 and 275hp RV injectors on my truck and I tow all the time. When I'm towing I run it on level 2, 3, or 4 depending on whether I want to worry about my EGT's or not. On level 2 I don't even have to look at the gauges, level 3 I only have to watch it if I'm WOT or uphill, level 4 I have to drive by it (great for passing on 2 lane roads with the 35' TT behind though)! When I'm not towing I run on level 7 most of the time and when I want to play (or race) it's on level 9 - on the top levels it's best to just not watch the EGT gauge! However, on those levels you're never at WOT for more than 17 seconds because that's how long it takes to go from a stop to redline in 5th! I did have to upgrade the clutch of course. I've towed up to 12,000 lbs with this combo.

First time you tow stock and try to tow up a decent incline you'll get the bombing fever. There is no such thing as a little bombing-more hp=more heat=more gauges=better trany=more power=more heat=better exhaust =well you get the picture:eek: :p
