Towing and milage

I think for the average, most brand trucks are all makeing the same or close to it. Now there will always be a few that get more and a few that get less but when the claims are exuberant, it's time to get the boots on as it is getting pretty deep.

Mntgoat, I am about the same weight as you (trailer weight that is) or slight less as I think I am about 6000 lbs. I usually get about 13-15 MPH, but then again I usually only tow 65-70 (mostly 65) since my truck has a foot govener at about 2000 RPM. Note I also do have 3. 54 gears and that may make a slight difference.

I got 3. 54s also. I am happy with my milage now, specially after hearing what others are getting. Probably dragging around those 2 extra tires and wheels doesn't help, but I like them!

Just finished a trip to Galveston Texas from Melbourne, Florida pulling the 5fer. GVW is 13,860 and its real full. Need to go to the scale. Anyway, ran 65-70 with 3:55 rear. Averaged 9. 7-10. 3 on

I-95, Fl RT40, I-75 and I-10. Fuel stops at the Flying J's just west of Tallahassee, Fl, in Gulfport, MS, and Orange, Texas. Keeping track of everything. Headed for Duluth MN from here on the 22nd of May and then, either to Hudson MA or back to Melbourne Fl in July, not sure yet.



Going to add a few goodies this trip, truck now has 97k on it. Just replaced Map Sensor and fuel pump prior to leaving. Original Lift Pump! Planing on an EZ, and exhaust up grade first.



May do a seperate post on the trip later. Will have my TDR decal

on the truck. Florida Tag FOUCD (UF Gator tag)

Hmmm I think that stroker also cvaught some fish thiiiiiiiiiiiiiis big too. Tell ya what, I drove 96 power stroke that had a 7. 3 and 4:10 gears up to Canada with a 1,700 slide in camper. The mileage was around 10 mpg at 55 mph. Anything faster and the mileage dropped. This same truck got about 13 empty. PW
