When your pulling a load on a staight flat freeway and keeping it at around 60 to 70 with 600 cummins and a 6spd & 3. 73 rear end

Do you find 6th gear to high a gear = to low of RPMs

Thanks

I tow a 10k 5er with that combo and it works fine. I can climb small grades in 6th, but have to downshift if they are very steep. My truck has the NV5600. The 6th gear final drive ratio with the new G56 is a somewhat lower gear, more like an NV5600 with 4. 10's. To compare the transmissions using different final drive ratios, etc. , check out the Excel worksheet on my website at http://www.klenger.net/dodge/general-reference/gear-speed-calculator.xls. You can hide the columns for the transmissions that you are not interested in comparing.

Like mentioned above... my son with his 04. 5 does well in 6th and his 3. 73... I pull 18-20K with my 04 all the time but it has the 4. 10... . and I have no problem in 6th doing 65-70 across some of the states where it legal and there isn't a lot of traffic... I don't care to pull that much weight in medium to heavy traffic that fast... usually take it down to 60's or so... . and it still does fine... . needs to go to 5 or 4 for hills... .

Hope this helps...

I wish my office 04. 5 had 3. 73s instead of 4. 10s. It sits at about 2100 RPM at 65 mph in 6th gear, and really starts drinking the diesel at 70 and up. On the other hand, in the back country with the gravel testing trailer, I can gear it down in rough country. And the country can get rough!
