I have recently become the proud owner of a 05, 3500,DRW, 4X4 "fully loaded "pickup and am having a little problem getting our Jayco level with this new " high " rear-end truck. We have the Moryde independent suspension on the trailer and it is adjusted to the max but I still need a little more clarence between the bed and trailer. I see that there are several spacers in the truck suspension and from what can tell that could make the difference by removing some or all of them to get the desired height. I have already adjusted the new drawtight signature series 5th wheel hitch to the max. Has any one had this same problem ???and how did you cure it.

The dealer has been no help/////

I recently sold a 98 2500(12 valve) so you can see that there a large height difference.

What about a spring over on your trailer? They 3rd gens sit tall. My 5th wheel came with a spring over and sits just right. That's even with bigger tires. By the way. . Welcome to TDR :D:D:D

I was hitting the rear corners of my bed rails on bottom side of 5er even after spring over on 5er and I did not want to lower back of truck so I installed a 2" leveling kit in front end of truck and since pivot point is rear axle it lowered the rear corners of bed about 1-3/4" to 2" and truck still looks pretty level even with 5er on back

daytripper63... ... I'm looking to add the 2" spacers as well... ..... like the looks of the higher front end. Have you readjusted the head lights? I didn't see an easy adjustment on the new head lights. How much hitch weight are you running? I'm about 1200lbs on a ball hitch with no bars. Can't use them with boat trailer serge brakes. Am concerned that truck will look like it is draging its butt with a lift in the front????? Runs pretty level now with the load attached.

I bought a 35ft 5th wheel with 16" wheels. It was too low for my comfort. The spring pack was 3" thick and the axle was about 4" thick. A spring over would have lifted the trailer 7". That would have looked stupid, and the trailer would have been 13' tall!

Most of the axle brackets I've seen on the trailers are not welded directly to the frame. My spring/shackle brackets were welded to a 2"x2" tube, which was welded to the 2"x12" frame. I marked the location, cut the 2x2 section off the main frame with a thin cutting disc carefully on the welds. I then welded a 2x3" tube between the 2x2" tube and the 2x12" tube. This gave me a 3" lift on the trailer and you can't tell from looking at the trailer that it has been lifted. It was also cheap (2-4' pieces of 2x3" tubing=$25)

I removed those spacer blocks from my SWB 4x4. There are actually 2 spacer blocks under there so you can pull one out and if you want it to sit lower, remove the other one. I think they are about 3/4" thick for each one. With them removed the truck sits pretty level, which is what I was after but I didn't want to increase the front driveshaft angle any further by lifting the front end. For me, the truck sits plenty hi as it will still take a 305 tire without rubbing if I become so inclined. I had a 5th wheel with the axle swap and it's not a bad option if you decide to go that route, just ensure the shop that does it aren't a bunch of short cutting boneheads and mess up your brake wiring like what happened to me.

I pull a 30' 5er with a pin wt of 1900 and trk sits fairly level

even with the 2" level kit unloaded the truck still sits higher in back but when I hook up 5er it sits about level maybe a hair down in back but I say about level and does not look like its dragin butt
