Lets see. . cut a hole in the floor for the shifter. go to a junk yard and get the brake/clutch pedal assy. , and for that matter a 6 speed transmission and re-build it. All thats really left is the South bend clutch and install. Could maybe be done for under $2500.

The only thing that I'd get stuck on is what to do with all the sensor wires and such.

FireMan Dave makes some excellent points and I fully agree. We have been RV'ng (5th Wheel currently) for 20 years and I have NEVER had a blowout until this year, I had two. One severe, smoke , sparks and had to replace the rim.

I check the tires before each trip and the tires were relatively new, it was tire separation. The RV - Trailer tires were CARLISLE and they are CRAP tires bought from Discount Tire. - Stay away from these tires, if you don't believe me, go to the NHTSA web site, click on tires, type in Carlisle and you will see story after story about how these tires blowout, disinegrate, separate etc.

Replaced the tires at Les Schwab with Allied tires, so far no problems.

I now never exceed 60 mph towing, constantly looking in my mirrors to see if my 5th wheel tirese are smoking or sparkin (rim dragging on cement) and I do now get better fuel mileage when towing and it is just a lot safer. It blows me away when I see newbies/yuppies/rookies towing like animals with their SUV's, majority of the time going too fast and way overloaded.

I couldn't agree with you more. I have noticed a big difference in mileage towing at 60 mph. For my money that is plenty fast for large rv's and semi's. 70-80 mph is too fast for these vehicles no mater how good a driver you may or may not be. Just an opinion, I don't want to start anything :) .

What is everyone seeing for EGT's and boost temps running in OD? I pull a 7x16 enclosed trailer filled with my products to a number of racing events and my temps seem high when I pull in OD at 65mph. I cruise at 62mph with OD/Off and everything's fine. Haven't gotten stopped for speeding yet, and all the weigh stations have been closed when I go by. Keep the tire pressure up and the speeds down and you'll enjoy your towing experience.

Dave: Unfortunately, my transmission is still working also, so no upgrade is in my future.

Just came back from a trip from TX to NE Ohio. ran about 65. only about 2 hills made me down shift, a couple made me back out of it because of EGT temps. nothing under 60 in OD. Love what that DTT did. slide the plate back some because to temps. there to stay for now. :D
