I rode in a fellow's truck the other day, it is one of the 325/600 trucks, 4wd auto, less than 10K miles. He was not real happy with the mileage, pulls a 10,000 lb trailer / Bobcat and is only getting 8. 5 - 9 mpg while towing. He previously had a Duramax, and before that a 2nd gen 12-valve Dodge, both of which returned 11+ mpg pulling the same load. He likes the performance of the new truck compared to the other 2, but definitely unimpressed with the mileage.
Is this typical for a 3rd gen with the 325/600 engine? Based on my old '97, I would expect at least 13 mpg pulling the trailer and would have thought the newer more powerful engine would just make things easier...
