Had the truck just 2 weeks now and I was adjusting the passenger mirror and crack. Barely pressed on it and it went south! I have the convex mirror on the corner (it didn't crack)and do like it. Is the cheapest place to get a replacement a glass shop? I read through some threads and it looks that way, but didn't see anyone mention any thing about if they had theirs replaced with the convex mirror left in. Also I want very badly to convert these into power mirrors, I got spoiled with my 97CTD that had power mirrors. Can someone tell me what I need, I can do the work myself, I am a great (self proclaimed) fabricator and am great with electrical work. It seems I would need a set of power mirrors and switch off a donor truck,... then what?? Oh yeah, mean while is there any way to loosen up these mirrors until I do the conversion??

Thanks Guys

Steve

Same thing happened here. Call the dealership service department and it was covered under warranty as long as you didn’t hit anything. I was told there is no replacement mirror you have to buy the whole mirror $350. 00 Covered mine good luck.

I just had the same thing with my new truck - local dealer could only sell me the whole mirror at about $175... Upon the advice of others here, I went to a local auto glass shop and got a replacement of the glass only for $23 including installation...

I had both of my mirrors replaced under warranty. The glass didn't break, but they would not hold their position. If the glass broke, then the mechanism was too stiff, and should be warranty.
