I have a broken heated mirror on my 2005 2500 also. Are instructions available anywhere on how to change out the glass only?

you don't have to smash the glass out the whole asy that the glass is in just pops out, I think you have to push the glass in tward the truck and it just pops off. had mine fall out twice while driving, they don't bounce too well... .

Any one have any problumes going from the little mirrors to the towing? I saw another thread I think it might have been in second gen. that said you had to have a bracket caus the extra weight. I just got my tow mirrors today and before I try and put them on I wanted to find out if I need more parts. The place I got them from was crazy fast I orderd around midnight monday and they came to the house today.

The extra stiffening plates are only needed for the 2nd generation trucks... the mounting stud pattern is small on them, which requires the stiffening plate.

The 3rd generation stud pattern is much larger, and the plates are not needed/used. FWIW, I have about 5k miles without any extra brackets/plates/washers without any more vibration than with the small mirrors (even with the towing mirrors extended).

FWIW, I bought a set of those 2nd gen stiffening plates when I did my tow mirrors; that's how I know they won't work on a 3rd gen.
