Hi,

I have a 1999, 2500 TD (sport package). I used it 90% of the time to pull a 32 ft 5th wheel (9500+).

I have the original power/heated mirrors (Mirrors look like Mickey Mouse ears) and slip on towing mirrors. I really don't like these small add-on towing mirrors.

I found a couple of sites on the internet that sells power/heated mirrors on http://www.powervisionmirrors.com/ and http://www.rpminnovations.com/towing.htm . Both seems to have a good product with comparable prices.

I believe that Mopar makes towing mirrors as well but could not find it on the internet.

Any advice on which mirrors (and where is the best price) I should buy would be appreciated.

Claude,

I like my flip-ups.

Claude,

I bought the Dodge flip up mirrors and put them on myself. This was necessary because I was too stupid to order my truck with them in the first place!

I really like them a lot. The work nice and look great, in my opinion. I just wish they were power - a little bit of a pain to re-adjust whenever I flip them up or down, but no big deal, really. I just leave them flipped up if I'm only a few days between tows. Besides, I can get more pedestrians and bicyclists that way. ;) :D

I ordered these mirrors from Mopar 4 Less - good price, and great service. Unfortunately, I received two sets from them broken (really the shipping company's fault). Mopar 4 Less even ate the shipping costs to return them and overnighted the new pair at their expense (which arrived broken, too). In the mean time, we were able to get a great discount account set up with a local Dodge dealer for out local TDR members, so I ended up getting them there. They were easy to install, although I recommend getting a door panel clip tool to make it easier.

They list for $270. from Dodge, but they are less at Mopar 4 Less. Of course, they would have been a $0. option if I would have had my head out of my butt when I ordered my truck.

Tow mirrors

I installed the Mo-Par tow-flip mirrors on my truck in less than 30 mins. They are a really good mirror-the built in convex mirror allows you to keep an eye on your trailer wheel wells as you drive. The right side mirror is not one whose "objects are closer than they appear". Great stuff, & priced right.

Towing Mirrors

I installed the Power Vision mirrors and I am very satisified. The power adjustment feature is worth the cost. Especially when backing to the left. I can swing the mirror out and see the rear of the trailer.

When extended or retracted, I can adjust the the right mirror to just the right position without asking my wife to move it out, in left or right, just a little bit more.

When they move out they have to be adjusted and when they move in they have to be adjusted.

Does anyone know if the wiring harness for the power mirrors is in the door and/or truck when you have these towing mirrors?

I would think you could install the motor/actuator ass'y from the non-towing version to drive the non-powered one's. I find it a bit irritating to have to readjust when towing. For $275 (or whatever the option was) I would have thought they would be powered.

Sorry to whine.

Lucix power mirrors

Look at the lucix magna X mount mirrors-- they have a larger mirror area than the powervisions and are powered and heated ;) and are about $400 for the pair and take a half hour to install-- If your towing most of the time you won't mind the only drawback- you have to manually move them in and out :( I give them a 9 out of 10--

Tow mirrors

Has anyone seen the Vision View Products, Heated, Electric Adjustable, Slide out mirrors?
