Which would you get? I like the towing mirrors, but don't know if I want to adjust them all the time manually. Can guys with the towing mirrors give me some advice? Do you regret getting them?

Thanks.

Well, I have had both mirrors (on 2 differnt trucks). The power mirrors are great for fingertip adjustability especially when u need to change the mirror for backing in somewhere. They usually also have a built in defrost, so depending on where u live, it is a pretty sweet feature here in the North.

Now the tow mirrors, I have gone through 2 sets so far. The 1st set's mirrors would not stay put. They just flopped around where ever they liked. I had to tape them put so I could use them. I had them replaced under warranty recently, so I hope these new ones last longer then the 2 weeks for the 1st set. They definetly do a superb job when towing & tuck away discreatly when in normal everyday driving.

I would just ask yourself if you really need the xtra length & larger view when towing. If not, then the convience of power & defrost wins out in my opion.

Tow Mirrors

I love my tow mirrors. They are easy to adjust.

I had the heated/power mirrors on my last Dodge and rarely used the heaters. If thats an issue Rain X works well.

They look good and don't vibrate at all.

No problem with the tow mirrors. I tow a 30' 5th wheel and find they do a good job but would prefer a taller on for backing among trees at camp spots so I could see a little higher up on the side of the unit. I had the adjustable mirrors from Pendleton on my 97 but I like the tow mirrors I have now. I guess what I am saying to each his own as needs are different for each of us.

mirrors

I ordered my 99 3500 with the stock ones. I did not want to have a truck that looked like a plumbing truck. I carry a 945 Lance so I had to make my own mirror mounts to attach to the camper. When the new tow mirror became available I ordered and have not been sorry since. Next to being able to stop seeing is a great thing.

The floppy towing mirror problem was a bad batch of mirrors from the manufacturer. The warranty replacements were on national back order for a while. I've had both of mine replaced, and the new ones are fine. I understand that a power/heated version is on the way. I'll probably upgrade at some time. I heard that the 2002 1500 towing mirrors are heated/power now.

I like my towing mirrors except for the manual adj and no heat. Had the others with Genos clip ons. Worked OK and looked like crapola. The OE towing flip ups work great. Makes towing much easier. I can see the rear side marker lights on my 34'(total length) TT. :) Wouldn't go back to the others.

I have the Power Vision towing mirrors. They were one of the best additions to my truck. It is so easy to adjust them for each backing situation. I can also adjust them if I sit up straight in the seat or slouch. You've gotta get power adjustable mirrors. There are other power mirrors available, but I have heard reports that the others vibrate. My Power Vision mirrors are almost rock solid. Disclaimer: No relationship with Power Vision; just a very satisfied customer.

Thanks for the opinions guys. It's hard to decide, but I think I'm gonna go with the tow mirrors. I guess I'll have to upgrade later on to the power/heat part.

I have tow mirrors on my 97 and the small one on my 99, I hate the small mirrors after have the big ones. You just can't see with the small ones as opposed to the big ones. with the big ones I have no blind spots even when pulling a trailer, but the small ones I have a huge blind spot:mad:. The only problem with the big ones is it makes it hard to fit in some spots especially in the city. Which ones you get depends on how much towing you do and your preference. Either way enjoy:cool:
