I don't know if there are aftermatket offerings for the switches... I went to my friendly neighborhood 5-Star and they looked them up and ordered for me. That was back in April '03, so I don't have the part numbers.

Do our trucks have the wiring in place even if we don't have electric mirrors? If so then all that is needed would be the factory-style switchs to make them work?

I just pulled my pass door panel off part way and my 01. 5 has an open six way plug(square) back there so I'm assuming that is the power mirror hookup needed.

Does any one have the part numbers for the door mirror adj switch and the dash heater switch?

Sam
Your model year 2001 Mopar Parts Catalog does:
  • 56021311 SWITCH, Mirror
  • 56007040 KNOB, Power Mirror Switch
  • 06503107 NUT, Plastic, Mirror Mounting
  • 05015737AA CONTROL, Heater, with Power Mirrors

Hey, Thanks alot. Just ordered mine. Figured I better hurry up before they get swamped with all of the TDR memebers.

I'm looking at an '02 dump that they took the original mirrors off and put the ugly big metal mirrors on the door. I would def order a set of these! should I be worried about rust on the inside of the door from those holes being open all these years were the mirror should be??

you can install body plugs and paint to match. doesn't look show quality by any means, but does the job

I have a like new set (both right and left sides heated and power) off my truck I'll sell. If interested pm me and we'll talk.

Thanks,

Tony

off of ur 2006? this thread is in regards to pwr/htd towing mirrors for 2ND GENERATION trucks. unless i am missing something, the mirrors that i found is to defeat the purpose of us no longer having to swap parts to create our towing mirrors.

Another point to consider if anyone decides to use the mounting from their 2nd Gen and some later 3rd Gen heads is that DC changed OEM vendors and the newer 3rd Gens won't mate up to the 2nd Gen mounts. A TDR member posted this after finding out the hard way.

So has anyone actually mounted a set of these mirrors on their 2nd generation to make sure that everything works and fits like it is supposed too??
Pete

Certainly if the bases will mount to the 2nd gen 24 valve they will do so to the 12 valve. The doors didn't change. But the wiring may be different.

Does the mirror adjustment switch control both mirrors? If so, how do you switch from one mirror to the other?

Thanks,

Bill

I think the wiring is the same, except they may have not had heated mirrors back then. you rotate the knob left/right to control separate mirrors.

The factory switch is a joystick for adjustment, for left or right side you turn the knob for left or right.

I second this question. I would really like to know if someone has received a set of these and actually bolted them up. Thanks.
