Hey guys - My '01 came with the standard mirrors which were fine but now I'm getting a 5er and need to get some mirrors that can see around it. I went to the Dealer to see about getting the factory towing mirrors. They told me that they have them in stock for $275 and they don't come in power??? They told me that the towing mirrors only come in manual. I really like my power (it's really hard to reach the passenger side when you going down the road). So what is the deal here? Do the towing mirrors really only come in manual? I like the OEM look is there an after market maker who makes a power OEM looking towing mirror? I don't want to spent big $$$ but I just never like the look of the clip over mirror things.

towing mirrows come in power too. look on ebay they have towing mirrows on there. they are cheaper than the dealership. richard

They did come in power with heat but not for your truck (or mine either). They only came on 3rd gen trucks. Do a search on heated power mirror swaps and you'll have hours of reading. Basically it takes a set of non power and set of power to make a set for our trucks. About $400-$500 and a few hours work.

I use McKesh mirrors as my garage has limited space and I would be hitting the OEM towing mirrors even if I run them in(least I thought so). I know when I was looking at tow mirrors they had power ones not sure they was OEM or after market but I know they are out there. I am sure someone will chime in on what they use.

Thanks for the info. I thought the guy at teh dealer was pulling my leg. I thought for sure that Dodge would have made powered towing mirrors for the 2nd gen... Any after market brands better than others? Also I read the 3rd gen mod info. How difficult was the mod? really?

I adjusted my manual towing mirrors at install and never had a need for future adjustments - they're always in the tow position with the same driver though.

Ebay seller Fivestar_autos (a Nebraska Dodge dealer) will ship the same mirrors to your front door for $190. 99.

powervisionmirrors.com, motorized extendable, heated, break away, durable, I have hit a fence or two with them. I tried the Cipas and didn't like them.

Don't try hitting any fences or anything else if you have a Ford with the towing mirrors. They will break every time. My neighbor is constantly breaking his every time one of his horses brushes up against them.

I just did this to mine. Wyatt Arp Dodge in Texas has the absolute lowest prices on these mirrors, and they also have them in stock.

Even my local dealer, who usually hooks me up with good deals, said he doesn't know how they sell them so cheap.
