Lowering rear end of truck

I've tried the Cipa slip-on tow mirrors for our truck ('99) and as others have commented, they do indeed vibrate and also the mirror area is very small as well as not extending very far. So it would seem that replacement mirrors are a necessity if one really wants to be able to see to the rear.

Which one vibrate the least, extend the furthest, and have the largest area? I'm looking at the Cipa and maybe also doing the early/late model mirror/base swap to retain my power/heat using the Dodge tow mirrors. Which would be the best of these, or should I look at another brand as well? Do any of these extend far enough to see to the rear of the trailer for backing? Thanks for your feedback!

not sure about the rest of it, but my mirror swap actually vibrates less than the stock power mirrors, even when flipped up.

Buy McKesh mirrors including the round mirror. I love mine they give me a good look behind the trailer and allow me to also check my tires. The slip on mirrors I bought first were a waste of money.

TRCM, are you referring to doing the early-model-mount-to-late-model-power-tow-mirror swap that lets early model Rams retain heat/power for the tow mirrors? If so, why did you go this (more expensive) way instead of an after-market brand like Cipa? As I understand it, to do this swap, you have to purchase early and late model tow mirrors, then swap the mounts. Thanks for your input!

I will 2nd the McKesh. I tried cipa's, then bought the McKesh and gave the Cipa's to my friend (who used them about a year and bought McKesh!)

McKesh mirrors are clamp on, but no vibration. In 3 years of use I never scratched the truck. Be carefull, you can extend them far enough you will not fit through toll booths!

Like the way this one is out real far!

Yes, that is what I did... and for a few of reasons:

1) I like the look of the dodge mirrors better than the CIPA's (CIPA's look like ford mirrors)

2) The dodge mirrors result in less wind resistance when not towing (most of the time for me)

3) The dodge mirrors give you a wider view when down

3) The CIPA's were gonna be 425 bucks and BOTH brand new sets of dodge mirrors that were required for the swap only cost me 475 bucks total shipped to my door (of which I have already recouped 180 bucks for the left over manual 3rd gen)... . leaving me with 300 bucks spent, and a set of 2ng gen power mirrors to sell that are in excellent shape

4) I knew the dodge mirrors would not have any 'issues' with fitment

5) I also spoke to a fellow dodge owner who HAD the CIPA's, and he didn't seem to like them. he said that over time, they began to vibrate

In 1998 when my No. 1 truck was new, I ordered custom made towing mirrors from an engineer in Kansas City, MO. They are made out of aluminum and stainless steel, the mirrors aren't the biggest, but are more than adequate. I have towed three different RVs over these nine years and don't have one complaint about the mirrors. I just purchased, should pick up tomorrow, my No. 2 truck. I am hoping I can retrofit these mirrors to my new GMC. I tore through my files and found my original receipt, I didn't know if nine years later he would still be in business; he works out of his home. He still is there and has a limited number of mirrors left, they fit 1998 through 2002 Dodges. Here's the information:
