Hello Everyone !

I tow a 28ft 5er with my 99 Ram QC. It has the heated mirrors and I have the slip on towing mirrors from CIPA.

I see from a trip to the local dealer lot that the new 2001 Ram's have a new towing mirror that looks like a great set up (flips up and out for towing  )

Wondering if anyone has tried to retro fit a 99 Ram with these units and what the cost might be ?

Mirrors

Go to the (No Engine / Drivetrain) area and look for the second page and look for the thread "Towing mirror" There are some good site's there. Looked at all of them myself and at mydodgeparts.com you can get the OEM mirror's for $202. 50.

Good Luck :)

You may want to check out the PowerVision mirrors as well. They have come out with a heated mirror and larger viewing area as well. The mirrors adjust out with a push of a button and are adjusted using the oem switch.

The OEM Flip up mirrors on the new Rams are difficut to come by. Local dealers here are backordered by several hundred units deep, and several calls to online dealers revealed the same thing. Guess I'll have to wait for the boat to come in.

Tried the Power Vision site and got this message after trying a search:

You searched for: Product... Mirror Make... Dodge Year... 1999 Description...

Your Search Results: No matches were found!

I know they have them for the 99 Dodge. I had them on my 99 before I traded for my 01. They are manufactured in Pendelton,Or. They have just recently came out with heated mirrors. You may want to check Camping World at 1-800-626-5944. I believe the price is about $385. BTW,DC has had a problem with some of the 01. 5 towing mirrors being loose on the passenger side and not staying in adjustment. Probably why they are on backorder.

Another option is the Eagle Vision mirrors you can find in Camping World. They are really a solid set of mirrors, and once adjusted properly, you can really see what's going on around you. They clamp onto your door. They go on and off real easy. Like I said, adjusting them is sometimes a pain, especially if your wife in the passenger seat has no strenght in her hands to loosen and tighten the wing nuts. So it's in and out. I still love em and my wife too!!

I got the Lucerix X-Mount mirrors for my truck and really like them. You get a 10"x10" mirror that will extend four and a half inches. I just returned from a trip to South Dakota and back (I live in New Jersey) pulling my 29 foot fifth wheel and loved the rear view. The passenger side started to vibrate so I called Lucerix and they FEDEX'd a new one to me, no questions asked! Installation is a breeze as well. (they are power and heated).

Does anyone know what's involved in installing/removing the Mopar towing mirrors?

I would like to run the towing mirrors during the warm months and the stock power/heat mirrors when it's cold.

David- changed my electric on my 96 tonight. The new tow mirrors are real nice, and give very ample view. As far as the job, it took about 1 hour or so, and about three beers. (Hot one today you know  )

I would think it'd be no big deal to swap back and forth, you should have it down to a few minutes within a few years! The tow mirrors fit exactly and have a reinforcing plate, and come with all the hardware. The electrics just unplug and it all comes out clean, I would imagine your newer truck is nearly the same. Those dame trim plastic pieces are a major PITA though, if you're gonna yank them often you'll be replacing the clips often.

mirror retofit

I don't know what the cost might be to change your rig over to the factory mirrors, but if it is near reasonable then it is certainly worth it. I've got them on my new 3500 and they are solid vibration free units.

As I said before,PowerVision now has mirrors which are heated. Eliminates the need to have to switch mirrors. BTW,I am in no way affiliated with PowerVision. Had them on my 99 and they are an excellent product.

I've looked at the PowerVision mirrors, and I am aware of their features. To be perfectly honest, I think they look goofy. I think the Mopar mirrors fit the look of the truck much better.

Dave how long ago did you look at them? The newer style mirrors have a larger area with radiused corners. They have more of an oem look to them. The ones I had on my 99 were more boxy and elongated. May be worth another look if you can locate a supplier who has the newer style.
