Towing Mirrors

Hey Guys,

I have a question about the Towing Mirrors on the '01s. My truck is so equipped and I have not experienced any problems, but I have a buddy who has a CTD he saw my mirrors liked them and purchased a set from from the dealer my truck came from. They came in Mopar boxes and were installed by the Dealer. His right side mirror has lost it's friction and now self adjusts to look at the road, this is not the first , but the third mirror to have this problem on his truck. Again my mirrors have not had any problems, we called another dealer nearby and inquired about this situation and that dealer said they had not experienced any of this .

My question is this a wide spread problem or just an isolated incident?

31k on my 2001. 5 with tow mirrors and never a problem.

I had the same problem on my new truck. The mirrors are on national backorder at times for this. The replacement mirror seems to be slighty loose, and will move if I try to clean it. Otherwise it's ok. I wish they would add power adjustment to the right side mirror at least. I don't really care that much about the heated option, but it would be nice to have.

I've read about this problem before - it happens to some, but not all. Some guys also have a problem with them breaking when they adjust them. I bought mine from the dealer and put them on myself - because I was too stupid to order the truck with them on it in the first place Anyway, I haven't had this problem. If anything, mine are too tight. It's always a little nerve racking to adjust them - I keep waiting for them to shatter. But mine have been fine - no movement at all. I just wish they were power adjust.

Mine never move. actually hard to adjust, the mirror bends and distorts slightly if you push hard enough to move it. Truck came with them as original equipment.

My tow mirrors have worked flawlessly, I even flexed the housing on the right side mirror bad enough to break the glass and it still works fine.

no such luck for me...

hello:

i have the new tow mirrors. they lasted two weeks before the right side let go. i put them on myself, not too hard. the local DC dealer had a spare because they installed a set on a truck and the mechanic ripped the left side off when he backed out of the bay they gave it to me no problem... james

Riped em off!! I that what they mean when they say it is a break away?

Nobody, is as careful as the owner of the rig.
